Bienvenidos, and welcome to Flores Mexican Restaurant
where you will be treated like family. Serving up fine Mexican cuisine has been a family business since Jose Flores was a
little boy. It all started with Jose’s Dad. He helped open up Serrano’s restaurant many moons ago. The restaurant
business has been in the family’s blood for so many years that even some of the dishes are named after family members.
Presently, Flores has three different locations. The restaurant I had the pleasure of dining at was their newest location
in Four Points at 7900 FM 620 North, Suite 100 inside the shopping center where the Home Depot is located.
Once
inside the place you won’t be able to help but notice how hopping the place is with business. The waitress came and
promptly seated us. New chic modern lighting hangs over each table. An enticing, beautiful, bar sits across the room and invites
patrons to come sit a spell. Order up a cold one and sit and chat with some of the locals. For dinner we decided on the fajita
nachos. The ($8.99) plate is served with chicken or beef fajita meat and topped with refried beans, cheese, guacamole, sour
cream and jalapenos. The nachos were spicy and delicious. This is a dish you might want to share or have it as an appetizer/sneak
preview to one of Flores Platos Mexicanos. Flores also serves a scrumptious breakfast of various egg dishes and the traditional
chorizo Mexicano breakfast plates every Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Flores no longer offers catering due to their
huge influx of business. But don’t forget you can still order food to go for those nights you just want to take something
home. But don’t sit home. It’s more fun to dine out.
After our yummy main course we ordered the out
of this world flan. The flan was extremely creamy. It melts in your mouth like a sweet, pudding-like custard. The ($2.59)
delicacy was the perfect ending to a filling meal. I’ve always been a flan lover, but now I am a flan nut. Warning!
Don’t try to share this dessert! You will end up fighting over it for sure. This was the most incredible dessert I have
ever had. Heed my words, don’t leave without dessert, or you will truly be missing out! You’re sure to miss out
if you don’t try this place and all the other locations. One of the other two restaurants is located in Lakeway at 1310
FM 620 South, (512/263-9546). The third restaurant is located in Oak Hill at 6705 West HWY 290, (512/892-4845). For more
information about their newest restaurant at Four Points, call (512-996-9636).
